Every July and August NJEC Hosts Riding Camp for Horse-Crazed Kids!
North Jersey Equestrian Center’s Summer Riding Camp is the perfect way for kids to spend time at their favorite spot – the stable – while obtaining hands-on horse experience. Every summer, the full service equestrian facility will once again offer its weekly camp sessions for young equestrian enthusiasts that are safe, structured and geared towards learning.
At NJEC an emphasis is placed on safety during all times and all aspects of horse care and horsemanship and our staff to student ratio is 1 to 5 permits each child individualized attention and instruction. Depending on each camper’s riding ability, our program offers the perfect school horse to ride and care for – from the quiet beginner mount to the advanced level show horse.
NJEC’s 8 week Summer Riding Camp is open to children ages seven through fourteen and will be held on-site Monday through Friday from 9 am until 3 pm in July and August.
ACTIVITIES AT NJEC SUMMER RIDING CAMP:
- English Riding – 1-hour per day
Safety on the horse and in the stable- Overall horse care
- Grooming, tacking and working around horses
- Equipment cleaning, functions and assembly
- Barn maintenance and stall care
- Clinics by horse professionals
- Team Sports from kickball to volleyball
- Arts & Crafts
- Parents’ Day Horse Show
- Pizza Party
- Proper Equipment
All students must come to camp equipped with their own ASTM approved hunt cap with safety harness, riding boots or paddock boots and a crop. If they do not have one, NJEC will suggest outlets at which they may be purchased. Riding pants, such as jodhpurs and britches can be worn, but jeans are acceptable. For safety reasons, campers are not allowed to ride in sneakers or shorts.

Pony Club of America
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horse and ponies, riding and mounted sports.
4H Club
4-H is a positive youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential. A vast community of more than 6 million youths and adults working together for positive change, 4-Henables America’s youth to emerge as leaders through hands-on learning, research based 4-H youth programs and adult mentorship.
Intercollegiate Equestrian Team
The Intercollegiate Team of Stevens Technical Institute is coached by NJEC Western Trainer April Kleiner and also trains at our facility. The annual Zone 7 intercollegiate Horse Show is held at NJEC.
Cowboy Legends Mounted Shooting Association
Cowboy Mounted Shooting is the fastest growing equestrian sport in the nation. Mounted contestants compete in this fast action timed event using two .45 caliber single action revolvers, each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition engaging targets while navigating through the course or stage.
